Halloween Killings: Krystle Karee and Heidi Klum

Hello...How was your weekend? I'm sure you were killing it fabulously, Get it killing? ;).
Today is Halloween BUT it was being celebrated by the masses over the weekend (btw when I googled Halloween I received 701, 000, 000 results in 0.23) and has become BIG business.
Jamaican makeup artist Krystle Karee and ma homeskillet, was recently featured on Television Jamaica (TVJ) Smile Jamaica, where she demonstrated how to create Halloween looks via makeup. They were creatively done and the Edna Manley alumni really showed that she can wound and kill anybody if she so desires....literally! Gore in full effect peep pics below.

Pretty impressive uh?

Well spotlight unto the international scene: Heidi Klum has made a name for herself as Halloween Style Icon and Costume Genuius.
The ex Victoria Secret Model, Project Runway Host, Brain behind multiple buisinesses and haute mother - still manages to find time to throw her Halloween bash, which had its first inception in NYC 2000. The fest is normally star studded and is always talk this time of year. Her parties has become quite legendary. Well I dunno about you BUT she has her PERSONAL costume designer. Jealous yet? nahhhh its Heidi! just watch and learn ;).

At Heidi’s first-ever Halloween party (2000), a black latex S&M outfit was the choice of costume. Allowing that kink flag to fly, she doesn't even look kinky! Shucks she wears it so haute-ly well...after all she wears just about everything well...But just look at the thought process behind the get up and this was JUST the beginning.

In 2001 her costume was that of a notable legendary female character, the horse-riding Lady Godiva  and leave it up to Heidi to create this striking historical allusion....Wig, Nudity, Horse and all. I love how the discreetly placed sparkles to definatley overcome any 'showings'  and because she can never be too over the top and of course, because she’s cool like that, She attended her party on a real horse! makes me wonder was there room in the club for that thing? ah well only a celebrity could pull off this concept...which was well done.
Red gloves simple red dress, black wig and heavy makeup Heidi Klum became a head turner in a Betty Boop-inspired number in 2002...very simple and chic. But don't think she got soft there was definately more interesting creations in that pretty blonde head of hers.

In 2003 this costume and Heidi must have been unmatched! Although fast forward to James Cameron’s Avatar,  Neytiri was a pretty alien herself.  Now back to 2003, a curvaceous, buxom creature from outer space complete with gold teeth, Heidi Klum was one hot alien who must have radiated on the dance floor. So she even arrived to the party via UFO now imagine if she was indeed an alien who hopped into her ship to dazzle the world from outer space...wouldn't the men and fashion world be just over the top impressed?

For her 2004 inspiration meet Heidi Klum, the red witch! This bright red witchy look was completed with a skeleton on her back. The skeleton was attached to her backpack and this must have weighed a ton after the costume was complete. This is what you call definately
over the top...Loves it!

In 2005 she arrived at her party as a vampire seductress  complete with a black cape, fangs and a beating heart outside her chest. This was definately raising the bar. This is styling genius.

Taking a biblical reference and adding sparkles to it, you definately leave it up to Heidi. She took her costume to the limit in 2006 and between the apple and the snake, I dont know which one weighed more than her BUT the forbidden fruit and snake
combination is a winner in my book, for the mere fact that she was 8 months pregnant...it was hidden well.

“If Found, Please Return to Seal”...wearing a tag with that tagline wasn't such a bad idea...its just too cute. For her 2007 party Heidi dressed as a demonic cat, this tight costume,  outlined each curve on her body. Ah Seal...must be nice.

As Hindu Goddess Kali this costume marks the beginning of Heidi's head-to-toe body paint period. The costume was embellished with shruken heads an embellished headpiece and six additional arms this costume probably took just as long they took to make the movie Gone with the wind...maybe I'm exaggerating, but you can see the intricate details  and over the top use of body paint sealed this costume as a hall of fame piece (in my opinion). She has in red contacts too...wikid!

In 2009 Heidi flew into her Halloween party as a black raven, wearing black boots and mesh stockings and a complete black feather costume, with even a beak and black paint on her face.
When you can't distinguish who is wearing the costume you know its incredibly done! Heidi transformed her supermodel self into a fictional robotic fighter in 2010...complete with purple body glitter paint and futuristic red hair, which along with sturdy robotic slits. The dedication is pretty remarkable and I'm still confused as to how she still maintained to look so skinny.

This 2011 Heidi literally killed it!...She stripped it all down, her clothes, her make up, her hair and even her skin, letting us look deep into her soul and her anatomically correct bone and muscle structure. She entered on a blood speckled gurney in this sinewy outfit, called 'Visible Woman'. It was hand-painted by designer Martin Izquierdo and the creation is what Klum wore this weekend when she hosted her annual Halloween party at TAO Nightclub at the Venetian in Las Vegas. The creation was started in July.
So what do you think of her supernatural fashion?

Drake and Solange does it Retro: Hot or Not?

With the expectation of what is to be an exciting couple of months...Rapper Drake's birthday party seemed to have marked the beginning of that. He celebrated his 25th birthday at TAO (Las Vegas) Saturday night. His look was something from the 90's, tinted shades and all. Well maybe Imma get flack for saying this BUT I do like the shirt. It reminds me of Versace in the 90's, when they came out with their prints and colours. Rapper Biggie had worn a gold printed one in his Hypnotize video. Drake's style of late has been nothing of that of a hip hop star - designer threads/trends,big chains and over worn diamond rings are missing....(Well Biggie did take the Bill Cosby Coogi sweater to the clubs)....Despite his styling choice...yes...the  highly-anticipated release of his sophomore album, 'Take Care' will be on November 15. Will you be listening?

Check out pics from his party below:

Fun times I'm sure ;)

Lets talk Drake's Style: Of late he has been seen wearing a lot of cardigans and sweaters and oh he la-la loves 'em...remember the MTV video music awards where he wore that Bill-Cosbyesque cardigan?
And that's just one moment, he rocks them for late night appearances, clubs and in his recent music video 'Headlines' (watch it below)

Well I must admit I liked this vid's concept (I'm assuming) he's showing his home and roots along with the people who cared for him and who he cares for....I especially liked the idea of a dinner-sweater-wearing mob boss (does Biggie come to mind again?) ruling over mass opulence. With that said sweaters aren't really a staple of a hip hop star's wardrobe so the appreciation and elegant usage of the sweater is MAYBE another less-heralded element of his subtle yet persistent hip-hop iconoclasm. Go Sir Drake we'll be watching ;)

Solange I have always found her to be only meh....yes mehgnificent. She knows how to rock her vintage! Check out her recent look from over the weekend where she had lunch with her older sister Beyonce.

Those John Lennon inspired glasses are the business! and that leopard print coat spells 1970's boho-chic her look is so fashionably put together. She makes such a fab hipster.

Meanwhile her sister was looking quite fashionable too....She wore an oversized blazer (one of my new fave trends) over a thigh high multicoloured dress along with a statement piece necklace. She also donned gold tinted aviators. Loving how she maintains a fashionable pregnancy style.

So what do you think.?

Trend alert: To Fringe or not to Fringe: Angela Simmons....Hot or Not?

BTFL-PEOPLE
Over the weekend co-CEO of Pastry Shoes, Mizz Angela Simmons, posted a pic of herself revealing her new bang and this interesting bodycon blue fringed dress. I must admit the fringe trend was never really one of my favourites BUT out of all the trends its very forgiving on the silhouette. Its flirty and festive and there's something about fringe that suggests the wearer wants to have a good time. Designers have embraced the 1920's flapper style, creating styles from short fringe gowns to long fringe gowns with the wearer still being able to feel sexy, with slits that give a peek at sexy legs underneath. Luckily for most, this trend rarely goes out of style.

Fringe is very boho, taking cues from Western references (cowboys, cowgirls etc.), its not just appearing on skirts but near the neckline, shoulders and hips. Designs with shorter sheaths I must admit I like more, they are very cute and I'm a shortie teehee...so I think I could manage to rock that length ;).

Designers have gone fringe crazy, from jackets, blouses to accessories you name them...they-are-Fringed. Either way its worn, it's totally stylish when done in small doses which can be very cute! Designer price tags you cant afford? well dont fret; while high-end designers are embracing this trend, more wallet-friendly brands are manufacturing fringe in dresses, blouses and bags as well. Stores like PacSun, Urban Outfitters, H&M, American Apparrel and Forever 21 will cater to you.

Tip:  Fringe Bags: Just like every other style you have multiple style options, lots of color options too. Shades of brown or sometimes black or gray, is always basic for this style but some popular options seen on fringe-loving starlets include turquoise and leopard print. If you are not boho-chic but a rocker princess, look for a style with a buckle or studs to amp up your rocker chick factor.

Just remember, not to pile on too much fringe. If wearing a dress keep accessories simple. If wearing boots keep clothing simple and chic....Let your bag, dress, vests, jackets or boots  speak for itself.

So will you be Fringin'?
